Kulcha Ites

Was born Wayne Grindley, was raised by his mother in Toronto among a family of musicians. Kulcha discovered his musical gift early and in no time he was performing for growing sound systems and local bands.

His smooth vocals started to gain recognition in Toronto's dancehall scene, where he began his musical career as Waynie Culture. He spent several years performing on sound-systems to a point he not only loved singing on popular reggae instrumentals.

He eventually grew a passion of playing records. He soon started attracting the same degree of attention as a disc jockey, which landed him opportunities to play at places such as Club Epiphany. Back in the days Kulcha performed with artist as Paddy Roots, Frankie Paul and Little Twitch. Kulcha went to Brooklyn New York, where he toured with Atomic Sound System, included artist such as Shaggy, Sleepy Tomic, Naturally, King Solomon, and Ranger.

After the “Turning Point” CD was released in 1995 Kulcha traveled to Atlantic City where he performed with Mikey Melody, Horace Martin and General Trees. As his fame began to grow, so did the eye of greedy producers. It started to become ever clearer to Kulcha that he needed to branch off, and take complete control over his career. So, as many smart businessmen know, sometimes, you need to take a step back to move forward. And through a few years of hustling, Kulcha has managed to develop a huge arsenal of tracks that are just getting better and better.

If you were to ask Kulcha about the name change he may say "There are two sides of me there's Waynie Culture with the soothing kina vibes which the girls mostly loved and there's Kulcha Ites". Which is about positive lyrics which promote love, respect, teaching about life, politics and living righteously.
